Stratospheric flight – above the weather, enables persistent solar powered flight with no need to land and refuel. High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) allow persistent wide area coverage, offering a strategic advantage to sensor and communications operators. Achieving lower latency and higher fidelity than low earth orbit satellites and lower operating costs than traditional aircraft; PHASA-35 is integrating next generation technology today to operationalise the stratosphere.
The PHASA-35 is a novel, light weight, solar-electric High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS) Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) which has proven ability to operate in the stratosphere before landing safely. PHASA-35 employs a range of world-leading technologies such as solar photo-voltaic arrays enabling energy generation during the day that is stored in rechargeable battery cells, fuelling overnight stratospheric flight for months at a time.
